Turnberry Risk Solutions Logo Design

“Turnberry Risk Solutions Ltd are a specialist provider of tailored risk transfer solutions for businesses involved in commercial disputes, whether arbitration or litigation.” This was the information I was given to create a logo for the London and Australia based company. Usually I’m given a detailed brief outlining brand values, target audience, company history etc, but not having this information is a blessing, and in some ways a curse. Its a blessing as its open ended and I have the freedom to let my creative juices flow and design what I want. However the ambiguousness of the brief requires vastly different ideas in the initial design and development stages to steer the logo down its path to the final design. With this in mind I set out to initially create different ideas based around  three following logo types: typographic, abstract, and pictorial/object.

While creating initial designs and through early development stages I was drawn to the ‘solutions’ aspect of the company and that they offer solutions to risk. This got me thinking of a simple maze/puzzle and how I could incorporate this into an icon. Moving forward with this idea I combined the letterform of a ’T’ with a simple overhead view of a maze.

The finished icon represents that Turnberry can guide the client/business through the maze of commercial disputes, offer a solution to a problem and be successful through the whole processor beginning to end. The bold lines in the logo promote security, trust and belief in the company's abilities. The typography used is the same as Turnberry's sister companies so that everything follows suit under their umbrella of law firms.
