London Illustration by Vic Lee

Vic Lee's London Poster

Vic Lee's London Poster

I visit London quite a lot and have been visiting the capital more and more frequently over the past couple of years for art and design exhibitions etc. Because of this I wanted to find a piece of artwork for my house that represented this. As a frequent visitor of the Tate Modern, the poster/map of London by illustrator and ‘maker of marks’ Vic Lee with the Tate Modern as the main focal point was the type of print I was after. I had searched for other prints of London by other artists at the Barbican Centre's online shop amongst other places, but this poster was by far the one that caught my eye the most. It captures a lot of the places in London I enjoy visiting by combining Vic’s illustrative style with typography and cartography. The detailed inking and monochrome design is engaging and makes you want to explore every inch of the artwork from corner to corner. The artwork I purchased is part of Vic Lee's exclusive work for the Tate Modern and can be found along with the rest of his collection at the Tate Shop.

Check out Vic Lee’s website at www.vicleelondon.co.uk to see a selection of his unique and detailed inkings (in particular ‘The Famous Grouse’ Packaging and his ‘Design Junction Murals’) as well as his shop for you own piece of art. Might want to get in there quick as by the looks of it his prints sell out pretty quick!
